The Copley Hospital Auxiliary is working to broaden its volunteer base through a novel membership invitation: a rack card.
The cards can be found throughout Lamoille County, in doctors' offices and supermarkets. Board President Judy Shanley of Morrisville and membership chair Barbara Pfitzenmayer of Stowe invite current auxiliary members to renew their membership and interested newcomers to pick up a rack card, read its message and join.
“The rack card tells the Copley Hospital Auxiliary story succinctly and attractively, and hopefully reaches a wider audience,” Shanley said.
Auxiliary members raise money for the hospital through the Second Chance Thrift Shop on Brigham Street in Morrisville, the renovated Copley Hospital Gift Shop, through bake sales, and membership dues of $10.
Since 1978, the Auxiliary has raised more than $850,000 for hospital needs. Recently, the auxiliary gave $115,000 toward the hospital’s new surgical center. Past support helped purchase defibrillators, patient beds, digital imaging equipment, and assisted with renovations to the emergency department.
