Nancy Louise Ather

Nancy Louise Ather, 77, died peacefully at her Morrisville home with her loved ones on Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017, after a long battle with colon cancer.

She was born June 1, 1940, in Morrisville, daughter of Merlin and Hazel Howard Ather, graduated in 1958 from Peoples Academy and attended Johnson State College.

She worked for many years at Andersen Lodge in Stowe, but she realized her true calling in retirement when she became the caretaker for the family’s dogs, who she loved like her children.

Nancy was a huge Elvis Presley fan, and she enjoyed slicking her nephews’ hair in trademark Elvis style. She always looked forward to trips to the coast of Maine with her sister Margaret and brother-in-law, Phil. Her infectious laugh and love of all of her family and their dogs will always be remembered and cherished.

Survivors include a sister, Mary Geno of Morrisville; nieces and nephew Lorilee Lawton, Beverly Noyes, Philip Noyes,Jr. and Anissa Geno; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and her best friend, Evelyn Small.

Her parents died earlier, as did a sister, Margaret Noyes.

Burial will be on June 9 at 11 a.m. in Pleasant View Cemetery in Morrisville. Faith Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Online condolences may be made by visiting faithfh.net.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to North Country Animal League, 16 Mountain View Meadow Road, Morrisville, VT 05661.
