A rescue mission Friday afternoon turned into a recovery effort the next morning as a person fell through the ice at Bingham Falls in Stowe. The body of Timothy Ferguson, 21, of Burlington was recovered by emergency personnel Saturday morning just before 10 a.m.

According to Stowe Police Department, on March 2 at 3:43 p.m. emergency personnel responded to the Bingham Falls area on Route 108 for a report of a person who had fallen through the ice into the water and did not come up.

Rescue personnel searched for Ferguson until 6:45 p.m., when the search was called off for the night. Crews started the search again Saturday morning.

Agencies involved were Stowe Mountain Rescue, Stowe Fire Department, Stowe EMS, Stowe Police Department, the Colchester Technical Rescue Team, and the Johnson Fire Department Dive Team.
