Share the Harvest 2016

The Northeast Organic Farming Association of Vermont is holding its 22nd annual Share the Harvest event at more than 60 food businesses around the state today, Thursday, Oct. 6.

Up to 15 percent of sales at participating restaurants, co-ops and stores will be donated to NOFA-VT’s Farm Share Program, which helps limited-income Vermonters obtain farm fresh fruits and vegetables through subsidized Community Supported Agriculture shares. Donations to the Farm Share Program go into a fund that is then disbursed to participating farms offering CSA programs.

In 2016, more than 1,400 people benefited from the Vermont Farm Share Program, and there was a waiting list of others hoping to take part.

Participating local businesses include Arvads Grill & Pub, Hen of the Wood, Pete’s Greens and Prohibition Pig in Waterbury; Doc Ponds and Harvest Market in Stowe; Nutty Steph’s and Red Hen Baking Co. in Middlesex, Sweet Simone’s and Toscano Café & Bistro in Richmond; Buffalo Mountain Co-op in Hardwick; and American Flatbread in Waitsfield.
