Stowe Theatre presents season kick-off cabaret

Stowe Theatre Guild will present its second annual Season Kick-off Cabaret on Saturday, May 12, at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall Theatre on the second floor of the Akeley Soldiers Memorial Building, 67 Main St., Stowe. This special event will feature performances by cast members from Stowe’s 2018 season — “Gypsy,” “Heathers the Musical,” “The Bridges of Madison County,” and “The Odd Couple (Female Version).”

There will also be a drawing for the “Dinner and Show” raffle which includes a $50 restaurant gift card and a pair of show tickets will be given away for each show. Donor restaurants are The Bench, Doc Ponds, Harrison’s, and Piecasso.

Admission to the cabaret is $10, which includes a single raffle entry. Raffle entries at $5 each may also be purchased separately. Winners do not need to be present at the event.

Noelle stars in ‘Urinetown’ at Lost Nation Theater

Taryn Noelle of Stowe will play Little Becky Two-Shoes in Lost Nation Theater’s production of “Urinetown, the Musical” at the City Hall Arts Center, 39 Main St., Montpelier. Kathleen Keenan, Lost Nation’s producing artistic director, returns to the stage as Penelope Pennywise.

The musical is a satirical comedy on capitalism, populism, politics, people, and musical theater itself, and offers a cautionary tale about clean water. At the 56th annual Tony Awards in 2002, the musical won for Best Book and Best Original Score (Mark Hollmann, music and lyrics; Greg Kotis, lyrics).

Previews are on Thursday, May 31, and Saturday, June 2, at 2 p.m. Preview tickets are $15. Shows on June 3, 9, 10, 16, 17 are 2 p.m. matinees, and shows on June 1, 2, 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, and 16 are at 7:30 p.m. The musical is a satire on capitalism, populism, politics, people, and musical theater itself, and offers a cautionary tale about clean water.
