Alyce Janeen LaVanway, 35, died July 28, 2011 in Longwood, Fla.
She was born in Berlin, Vt., July 31, 1975, the seventh child of Zelda (Hartshorn) and Albert LaVanway Jr. The family moved to Florida when she was 4, and she graduated in 1993 from Flagler Palm Coast High, where she was manager of the wrestling team, a member of the basketball team, and won two creative artist ribbons for her artistic ability.
Alyce lived her life smiling and serving others in her waitress career. She takes with her a smile that will never be forgotten and leaves a deep love that will remain forever with those who knew her.
Survivors include her mother, Zelda LaVanway of Fayston; five brothers, Maurice and wife Barb of Duxbury, Wendall of St. Augustine, Fla., Glenn of Waitsfield, Kevin and wife Paige of Duxbury, and Chris and fiancé Myrna of Winter Park, Fla.; a sister, Darleen, of Oviedo, Fla.; two nieces in Florida and four in Vermont; two nephews in Indiana, one in Florida and two in Vermont; a grandnephew and grandniece in Indiana, and three grandnieces and one grandnephew in Vermont; Dave Young, a devoted and faithful companion; and a large extended family,
Her father died in August 2009; a high school friend, Kenny Evans, died in June 1991; her beloved pet Deogee died in 2007.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, Aug. 14, at 3 p.m. at the North Fayston Cemetery. Perkins-Parker Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Waterbury is assisting the family.
