A man apparently hung himself from a train trestle off River Road in Duxbury Tuesday, according to Vermont State Police.

State troopers responded to a reported suicide by hanging at 11:27 a.m. But they could not reach the victim, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Waterbury Fire Department and Stowe Rescue helped state police recover the body, which was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

Detectives with the Vermont State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation are investigating the incident. The investigation is in its early stages, but the death appears to be an isolated incident with no signs of foul play, police said.

Authorities are withholding the 35-year-old victim’s name until his family members have been notified.
