The heat wave is now over for the time being. It was hot. This week the temperatures were supposed to be in the 80s but with lower humidity. That’s much more bearable. The nighttime temperatures have been in the 40s and 50s, which is great for sleeping. It feels quite chilly after the warm weather we have been having.
Dereck and Edna Lafountain went to the Bluegrass Gospel service in Belvidere on Sunday. Edna said they had a good time. It was a lot of fun. They are not sure when the next one will be. When I find out I’ll let you know.
There was a good crowd at the jam at the town hall on Thursday. Merilyn Clinger went to it. Everyone was happy to be back. Everyone had a good time. They will meet every Thursday from now on unless something comes up.
Caleb Miller, along with his girlfriend, Christianna Williams, arrived at Merilyn Clinger’s from Colorado this last week. They will be here for a few weeks. Merilyn is expecting her husband Maurice’s relatives to arrive this week and will stay for two days. She said her house will be full to capacity.
On the Fourth of July, Merilyn and her daughter and her family went to the parade in Morrisville and then went up to the Manchester camp on Lake Eden. A number of people were there. It was a great day to spend swimming in the lake.
Steve, Ruth and I went to the parade down in Jeffersonville on the Fourth of July. It was a very good parade. Afterward we went to the book sale at the library in Jeffersonville. We decided to spend a quiet evening at home instead of going to see the fireworks. Mark and Jenn and their family went to the fireworks in Stowe.
Our daughter Rhoda and her husband, Paul, went to Maine for a few days last week to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. They had a motel room that looked out over the ocean. They enjoyed lobster and other fish at a number of restaurants near where they stayed. Maybe we’ll go to Maine next year.
Some families from town and one from Johnson went camping this last week. One family went to Lake Elmore and one went to Lake Placid, N.Y. Camping is a great way to make memories for the family.
Jennifer, Gifson, Micah and Luca were here visiting C.J. and Sharon Manchester for a week. They are from Toronto.
Merilyn Clinger went with Shirley Allen, from Wolcott, to a Daughters of the American Revolution meeting in Alburg, Vt., on Saturday.
On Saturday, Steve, Ruth and I went back out to Burke Camp in New York State to clean our cabin. I’m glad the heat wave was gone by that time. The cabin was a mess. A chipmunk had gotten inside and there were nuts all over the place. Mice had also gotten in. We also found two holes in the wall where these critters probably came in. We covered the holes so hopefully they won’t come in again for a while.
A happy birthday goes to Ray Ploof and to Allison Wells, both on July 14.
Have a great week, everyone!
