Last week started out wet and cool but after some thunderstorms Wednesday night, warmer weather moved in for the rest of the week. It was sunny and temperatures were in the 70s with some close to 80 degrees. Yay!

Steve and I went to our church’s district assembly and missionary convention at Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Mass., on June 5. Besides this being a time of electing new officers for our district church and hearing about what God has been doing in the lives of people both in the United States and in other countries, it has been a time of seeing old friends and meeting new friends. We saw Charlie Burt while we were down there. Charlie grew up in Waterville and is now living in Quincy and works at the college. It was good to see him. We also saw Jay Nielson, John and Janice Nielson’s son, who is also now living in Quincy and working at the college.

Merilyn Clinger also attended. She came home a little earlier than we did on Saturday and was able to go to the Cambridge High Alumni Banquet in Jeffersonville Saturday night. She said that there were only three there from her class of 1954.

On Saturday, Dereck and Edna Lafountain went down to Dereck and Amy’s for a party for Dereck’s 50th. Happy birthday, Dereck!

It was back to taking care of my grandchildren on Monday and Tuesday last week. On Monday, Mackenzie and I made chocolate chip cookies together. Then we had a tea party but with milk and cookies. On Tuesday, after Monty got home from school, Steve and I took all three kids grocery shopping and got creemees for everyone. We stopped at Ithiel Falls Camp to eat our creemees and to let the kids run around exploring. The kids had fun.

On Sunday, Steve and I went over to Paul and Rhoda’s house for our noon meal. It was a beautiful and warm day for a picnic.

This Friday, June 14, is the last day of school for many children and teens. Summer vacation will begin, hopefully with summer-like temperatures. Be careful if you are swimming. The rivers and lakes are still very cold but if these warm temperatures keep up, the water will soon warm up, too. Hope you all have a great summer vacation.

My vegetable garden has been plowed this past week. Because I was gone most of the week, I was unable to plant it. Being so late in planting, I hope for a long growing season way into the fall.

A happy birthday goes to Sue Chamberlain on June 14, to Donnie Lynch on June 16, to Maria Burt on June 17, and to Paulette Erickson on June 18.

A happy anniversary to Brian and Carol Towle on June 16 and to Marlene and Albert Tobin Jr. on June 18.

Have a great week, everyone!
