Brian A. Kneeland, 77, of Hyde Park died Oct. 4, 2019, with his family by his side at University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.
He was born Feb. 2, 1942 in Burlington, the son of Lee Maurice Kneeland and Blanche Helen McCuin Kneeland.
He was a 1960 graduate of Peoples Academy.
Brian was in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1965. He served on the USS Perry 844 destroyer, and was joined there two years later by his younger brother, David. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for a number of years and was a groomer at Mt. Mansfield and Smuggler’s Notch.
Brian was a Freemason and was a member of Mt. Mansfield Lodge #26 F & A.M. He was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed watching Westerns and working in his vegetable garden and was an avid hunter, particularly hunting deer and geese. He enjoyed sugaring with Jarrett and David. He was very proud of his grandchildren.
Brian is survived by his son, Trevor Kneeland and wife Heidi of Hyde Park; grandchildren Jarrett and Kaylie Kneeland; siblings Craig Kneeland and wife Christine of Eden Mills, David Kneeland and wife Sheri of Eden, and Linda Ward of Waterville; cousin Virginia Thompson; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents died earlier, as did a brother-in-law, William Ward.
Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Faith Funeral Home, 165 Brooklyn St., Morrisville. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Mountain View Cemetery in Waterville. Online condolences may be made by visiting faithfh.net.
