Mark Michael Collins, 50, of Hyde Park died Sept. 4, 2019, at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.
He was born Feb. 21, 1969, in Holyoke, Mass., son of Michael and Phyllis (Bielski) Collins, graduated from Hampshire Regional High School in 1987, and loved baseball.
He was employed in the facilities department at Lamoille Union High School for more than 15 years. Mark could always be found at the lake, fishing and kayaking in the summer, along with a yearly family trip to Hampton Beach, the Sunday card game with the boys, golfing or riding his mower.
Super Bowl Sunday was his day. His love of music (Van Halen), the Red Sox and Patriots was like no other. He was also known for his Facebook bantering and memes, which will be greatly missed (well, by some).
Mark lived every day like it was his last. He was loud and boisterous but touched everyone in his own unique way. He was always full of love for his family, friends, his Tucker and Katie-girl. He was the loudest in the gym or on the field and a cheerleader for all. He loved to watch his kids play their school sports, and was ready to watch any game in the gym of Lamoille Union. He was a proud dad and made sure everyone knew.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Bobbi Reen; his children, Katelin and Kyler Collins of Hyde Park, and Jordon and Zachary Phelps of Morrisville; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Jean “Kitty” Reen of Morrisville; his brothers-in-law, Brian, Billy, Eric, David and Dennis; his brother Christopher Collins and wife Marcia of Easthampton, Mass.; his Aunt Florence and cousins Maureen and Patti, also of Massachusetts; his dear Lyndsey (“Yo-yo-yo”); and friends near and far.
His parents died earlier.
Friends may call Friday, Sept. 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Faith Funeral Home, 165 Brooklyn St., Morrisville. Online condolences may be made at faithfh.net.
A celebration of Mark’s life will be held Saturday, Sept. 14, at 2 p.m. at the Lamoille Union High School auditorium, with a reception to follow at the school.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lamoille Union Athletics (Mark Collins Scholarship). Make checks payable to Lamoille Union High School, in care of Allison Laflamme, 9E Parkside Terrace, Barre, VT 05641.
