The Peoples Academy Alumni Association gathered June 1 at the at Copley Country Club for its 126th Alumni Banquet, with 90 people attending.

Many alumni suggested that future banquets also be held at the country club.

Dot Bliss welcomed the alumni and read the minutes from the 2018 alumni banquet.

Officers chosen for 2019-20: president, Richard Shanley 1960; vice president, Trevor Putvain 1990; treasurer, Joanne Godfrey 1960; and secretary, Dot Bliss 1959.

Barb Grant ’ 63 presented maple syrup to the oldest alumnus, Raymond Gray, class of 1949, and to Lester Magoon, class of 1969, who had traveled from Honolulu.

A time of remembrance for Ida Mae Anderson was led by Robert Bridges ’69, longtime teacher and school board member. He offered a toast in her memory, and alumni told stories about Ida Mae.

Events related to the banquet: tours of the updated Peoples Academy Observatory, led by Bob Stevens ’64; and a tour of Peoples Academy, led by Trevor Putvain ’90. Each tour drew 25 to 30 people.

The meeting closed with the singing of “Dear Old PA.”
