Our Sunday service was a special one celebrating Pentecost, which marks the birth of the church. Upon arrival, parishioners were greeted by Jeff Churchill and given party hats to wear during the service. Parishioners brought wrapped gifts to church, which we exchanged with each other in celebration of Pentecost.

The service consisted of readings/sharings conducted by church members Marjorie Welch, Kim Whitcomb, Carol Moulton and Kathy Wilder. Promise of the Spirit, When Pentecost Came, Geared into Things Eternal and Honoring God’s Spirit comprised the four components of the service.

Following the service, parishioners enjoyed birthday cake in the downstairs fellowship hall, which was decorated for a birthday celebration complete with festive tablecloths and balloons. Thanks to Pastor David, Martha Twombley and all those who organized this special service.

Readings from John and Acts were delivered by Jeff Churchill. Susanna Burnham, Patty Jacob and Kathy Wilder served as our musicians. The Joys and Concerns portion of the service included prayers for our graduates, those traveling, and those struggling with illness. Baccalaureate was held at Peoples Academy on Sunday evening. Community clergy presided over the ceremony with special music by Edward Habeck IV and Voices for All Seasons.

Upcoming events:

• Women’s prayer group meets Thursdays at 5:15.

• Bible Class Saturday, 8:30 a.m., at Wilders’ house.
