Paving in Morrisville

The resurfacing of the Class 1 highways in the village of Morrisville is moving along quickly. Over the past few days crews have been laying down an initial shim layer of pavement, and painting lines and crosswalks along all of the streets being worked on.

Work is expected to pick back up next week on Monday, July 1 and run through noon on Wednesday, July 3. Crews will cease all work at that time for the Fourth of July weekend; workers are scheduled to get back to work with other portions of the project on Monday, July 8 at 6:30 a.m.

The village streets being resurfaced include:

• Lower Main Street out to Jersey Heights

• Upper Main and Elmore streets out to Demars Road

• Park Street to the village limits

• Portland and Bridge streets

• Brooklyn Street to near the intersection with Harrel Street.

Work will continue on those roads throughout the month of July; during the work drivers in the village can expect sporadic traffic delays and single lanes of alternating, one-way traffic.

More paving is planned for later in the summer, probably in August, and the entire project is scheduled to wrap up by September.
