A Lyndonville man drank more than 50 ounces of beer before noon and was arrested for driving under the influence for the eighth time, according to police.

Eric Alexander Morrison, 48, of Lyndonville pleaded not guilty last week in Lamoille County Superior Court to driving under the influence, eighth offense. Anything over three DUIs is a felony offense.

According to court records, Stowe police pulled Morrison over for a traffic violation on Pucker Street on Aug. 9 at 11:19 a.m. Police say that when they pulled him over, they saw two empty 25-ounce cans — one Natural Ice and one Busch Ice — in the vehicle, and a third can of Busch Ice “was partially full and cold to the touch.”

In a roadside sobriety test prior to his arrest, Morrison registered a 0.178 percent blood-alcohol concentration, which had increased an hour later to 0.206 percent during a test at the police station.
