A recorded telephone conversation gave police enough evidence to secure a search warrant for a man’s home, and later arrest him.

Ronald Pritchard, 33, of Morristown is accused of restraining and sexually assaulting a woman after she got a ride to his house following a night of drinking at numerous Stowe bars on June 1.

According to detectives from the Morristown and Stowe police departments, the woman told police she got sick at his place and locked herself in his bathroom, but he was able to get into the bathroom and carry her to his bedroom, where he had sex with her, despite her protests.

In talking with police, the woman showed numerous bruises she said resulted from Pritchard pinning her down.

She agreed to record a telephone call with Pritchard, which police used as evidence to secure a search warrant for Pritchard’s home.

Pritchard pleaded not guilty last week in Lamoille County Superior Court to sexual assault without consent.
