An Eden man is accused of beating up a woman, breaking her phones, and harming a dog in the altercation.

Michael Mallen, 40, was arrested by Vermont State Police who responded to a report of a domestic dispute on East Hill Road in Eden June 1 at about 9 p.m.

There, a woman alleged Mallen had busted up the house, punched her, and dragged her and her dog through the debris. The woman told police the dog’s paws had glass in them.

She also told police he threw her phone at the wall when she tried to call for help.

Mallen told police there had been an argument and things got broken, but denied anything physical happened, saying he did not hit women.

Later, probation and parole officers overseeing Mallen told police the woman had second thoughts about talking to them, stating “it appeared to be symptomatic of a cycle of domestic violence.”
