Police have accused two people of breaking into a car in Johnson but they have not been charged with committing a recent spate of vehicular burglaries in Johnson village.

Olivia Couture, 31, and Shane Morrill, 32, both of Colchester, have been ordered to appear in Lamoille County Superior Court Aug. 7 on suspicion of possessing stolen property, according to the Lamoille County Sheriff’s Department.

Police allege the two smashed a window to break into a car parked off Route 15 near Willow Crossing shortly after noon on May 23.

Police allege they stole numerous pieces of high-end audio equipment, including a microphone, headphones and an interface/mixer.

Detective Scott Kirkpatrick said Couture and Morrill allegedly sold the mixer on Craigslist, but police were able to obtain a search warrant and found most of the equipment at the Colchester home.

He said the car owner was pleasantly surprised to get his equipment back.

Police are still investigating several vehicle break-ins, mostly in Johnson village, over the past month, and ask anyone with information to call 802-888-3502.
