A woman was helicoptered to the University of Vermont Medical Center and Route 100 was shut down for over an hour after a two-car crash in Morristown on Tuesday night.

The crash occurred at 5:25 p.m. near the intersection with Meadow Drive, just outside Morrisville. A 1998 Volvo station wagon and a 2007 Ford Focus collided nearly head-on, Morristown police said.

The woman driving the Focus was taken by ambulance to Copley Hospital, then airlifted by DHART helicopter to UVM Medical Center.

The Volvo driver and a passenger in one of the cars were also transported to Copley Hospital. Police had not disclosed the names of those involved by press time.

Route 100 remained closed until about 6:45 p.m., police said. Traffic was rerouted onto Morristown Corners, Stagecoach, Golf Course and Cochran roads.
