Stacey Fox is the new head coach of the women’s softball team at Northern Vermont University-Johnson.
Fox played and coached at the University of Rhode Island, which plays in the NCAA’s top-echelon Division 1. She appeared in 171 games for the Rams, mostly playing catcher and outfield, and returned to the program after graduation as an assistant coach.
She has also coached the Conklin Raiders, one of the premier youth softball teams in New York, and is a physical education and health teacher at the Walden School in West Danville.
“I am extremely excited to join NVU-Johnson athletics as the head softball coach,” Fox said in a press release issued by the college.
“Stacey’s background as an educator, a former student-athlete at the Division 1 level, combined with her knowledge for the game of softball proved she was the perfect candidate for the position,” said Jamey Ventura, associate dean of athletics at NVU-Johnson. “Her passion for the game and ability to teach our student-athletes will be valuable to the growth of the program. We are confident that Stacey will do a fantastic job building the program to be competitive in the conference.”
Fox takes over a team that went 2-8 in the North Atlantic Conference last season and 6-22 overall.
