Albany Berkshire Ballet’s production of “The Nutcracker,” a Burlington holiday tradition since 1974, will present three performances, each with a different cast of local students, on Saturday, Nov. 29, at 3 and 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 30, at 1 p.m., at the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts, 153 Main St., Burlington.
The enchanting ballet features more than 120 dance students age 3 to 17 from 33 Vermont towns who perform with professional dancers.
Stowe Dance Academy students and Stowe-area residents in the shows include Katherine Black, Gigi Calhoun, Nadia Chudzik, Makayla Courtemanche, Maegan Davies, Lila Derryberry, Ava Fagnant, Jordan Fagnant, Ellie Feinstein, Megan Grover, Alaena Hunt as Clara, Jahniya Kolowitz, Kerris Manosh, Sophie Manosh, Madeleine Metraux, Emma Palin, Kaydance Rathburn, Anna Rothschild, Reed Taylor as Fritz, Kate Tilgner, Hilary Wailonis, Annalise Westervelt and Haley Williams.
Helena Sullivan, owner and artistic director of Stowe Dance Academy and Mad River Dance Academy, is the rehearsal mistress for the production. Sullivan herself was in “The Nutcracker” as a youth.
Artistic director Madeline Cantarella Culpo has choreographed the holiday classic, which features the score of Peter Tchaikovsky and lavish sets and scenery designed by Carl Sprague. Tickets: 86-FLYNN, flynntix.org.
