A National Honor Society induction ceremony was held on Thursday, Nov. 7, at Stowe High School.
New members, elected for meeting high standards of scholarship, leadership, service and character:
• Grade 11: Camden Anderson, Natalie Doehla, Makenna Lund, Daniel Lyden, Maryam Sarafzadeh, Isla Saylor, Taegen Yardley.
• Grade 12: Catherine Gianni, Alexis James, Lillian Keller, Ashley McHugh, Kathryn Riley, Haley Spencer.
These students join a tradition of excellence chartered at Stowe High School in 1962. The National Honor Society is one of the oldest and most prestigious national organizations for secondary students.
The event was hosted by Principal Gretchen Muller and organized by honor society adviser Heather Hoffmann. The inductees were sworn in by mathematics teacher leader Kaaren Meyer.
Guest speaker was Roger Murphy, alternative education/ English/social studies teacher at Stowe High.
A reception for the new members, their parents, guests, and the faculty followed the ceremony.
Nominations are open for the annual 4393 Awards, a reader survey sponsored by the Stowe Reporter and News & Citizen to honor the best in our area. This nomination period is your chance to write in names, so if you (or your favorite business) want to be on the list of finalists, spread the word. Nominations are open through April 25.
