Stack of books

The book sale on the Stowe Free Library porch is a major annual event.

The Stowe Free Library’s 35th annual book sale, sponsored by the Friends of the Library, will begin Tuesday, July 9, at 9 a.m.

The sale will be held daily, dawn to dusk, through Sunday, July 28 on the porch and library grounds at the library, 90 Pond St.

Residents donate 10,000 books a year to the book sale, which are sorted into more than 25 categories, including collectibles, antique books, coffee table books, classics, history, travel, cooking, art, biography, gardening, parenting and self-help.

There’s also a selection of large-print books.

A separate area in the gazebo out on the lawn will have children’s books, audio books, music CDs, and DVDs.

The book selection is restocked continuously throughout the sale. Inside the library, there’s also a permanent ongoing book sale inside the library.

All proceeds benefit the Friends of Stowe Free Library, a nonprofit organization that supports library resources, activities and programs. Information: 253-6145, stowelibrary.org/friends.
