Two former students at Bishop John A. Marshall School in Morrisville are valedictorians this year at their respective high schools.
Katie Garret of Stowe, a senior at Rice Memorial High School in South Burlington, and Katelyn Shaw of Eden, a senior at Lamoille Union High School, earned the right to make the valedictory addresses at their high school graduations, thanks to their excellence in their academic careers.
Rice’s graduation was Sunday, June 4. Graduation at Lamoille Union is Saturday, June 17, at 11 a.m.
“Both young ladies are extremely hard-working and conscientious students. Not only were they content to complete assignments but consistently went above and beyond and really dug deep so they could uncover everything they possibly could,” said Carrie Wilson, head of school at Bishop John A. Marshall School.
Wilson went on to call Katie and Katelyn “well-rounded,” proficient in music, sports and extracurricular activities while continuing to excel in school. Wilson also praised their cheery dispositions and willingness to lend a hand.
“I am thrilled for them, just to know that hard work pays off. Their work started well before they came to Bishop Marshall. They continued that work and it’s just nice that they can see and kind of reap the benefits of all of their work. I’m beyond thrilled for them and it went to two deserving young ladies.”
