The Stowe Rotary Club, along with a crowd of guests, welcomed Bobby Murphy, vice president and general manager of Stowe Mountain Resort, to its meeting Oct. 19.

Murphy is leading the Vail Resorts management team at Stowe Mountain Resort; Vail bought the Stowe ski operations earlier this year.

Most recently, Murphy was vice president of guest services and the ski and snowboard school at Vail Resort. He grew up in the Midwest, is passionate about the ski industry, and is excited by the prospects in Stowe.

Murphy said he wants much of his work to focus on three things: 1) the customer experience; 2) the employee experience; and 3) being part of the community.

He expressed his belief in the strength of the Stowe brand, and of the community overall, and believes that being part of the larger Vail Resorts company will serve to enhance all of it.

On Thursday, Nov. 2, the Rotary Club will host Gary Clark, president of the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson. The meeting runs from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m. at the Town and Country Resort, 876 Mountain Road, Stowe. Anyone interested in attending may email For information about Rotary:
