Stowe Aviation has added new direct flights into and out of the Morristown-Stowe State Airport, giving winter sports enthusiasts from the Big Apple quick access to a half dozen ski resorts within less than an hour’s drive.
Last month, New York-based BLADE started offering flights between Morristown and Westchester County in New York.
BLADE allows users to use their smartphones to buy seats or crowdsource them. According to the BLADE website, customers crowdsource seats by purchasing them and having BLADE sell the unused ones. Any sold seats are then credited back to the customer, to be used toward future flights.
The planes are eight-seat Pilatus PC-12 aircrafts, each flown with two pilots.
The hourlong, one-way flights are every Friday and go for $745 a seat.
The company also offers discounted “season passes” to the Morrisville-Stowe airport — buy 10 seats and get 5 percent off, while 50 seats gets you a 15 percent discount.
Even though the airport is located in Morrisville, Stowe Aviation has marketed the airport as a gateway to Stowe Mountain Resort — it’s about a 30 minute drive to the trails. BLADE also notes the proximity to Smugglers’ Notch and Sugarbush resorts.
Notes the BLADE website: “Avoid 10+ hours of weekend driving and maximize your time spent with friends, family, fresh powder, and don’t forget the added Sunday après-ski potential — you are no longer driving!”
