Maple Street could be the site of three new apartment buildings.

The Stowe Development Review Board is pondering whether to permit the three new buildings, with three apartments apiece, and takes the question up again June 18.

Graham Mink, who owns the property at 605 Maple St., is working with Tyler Mumley of Mumley Engineering, and says each of the nine units will have two parking spaces.

The entire project will comprise about 20,000 square feet of property.

Nearby homeowners were concerned about an existing pond on the property, as well as lighting; Mumley assured them more trees would be planted to help block the light from view.

The board debated over the course of two meetings whether the driveway placement allowed sufficient access for Stowe Fire and Emergency Medical Services, and heard neighboring property owners’ concerns about wildlife displacement and the buildings’ locations in proximity to houses.

The board next takes up the issue June 18 at 5 p.m. at the Akeley Memorial Building.
