Abby Chaffee is the new executive director of the Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum in Stowe.
“We anticipate that her infectious enthusiasm for skiing and riding, her extensive leadership and fundraising experience will mesh well with the museum’s goals for the future,” said Poppy Gall and Greg Morrill, co-chairs of the museum board.
Chaffee learned to ski and snowboard at age 8, when her family moved to New Hampshire. She spent much of her childhood in Vermont — at summer camp on Lake Fairlee, adventuring in Greensboro and riding the alpine slide at Stowe Mountain Resort.
She started her career in the ski industry managing events for a major ski resort, was a consultant for an adaptive ski organization, then worked in the nonprofit sector.
As she grew older, she vacationed in Stowe and shared her love for the town with friends and family.
“I couldn’t be more excited to put down some roots in this perfect little ski town,” Chaffee said.
She and her husband, Chris, live in Morrisville with their chocolate Lab.
The nonprofit Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum at 1 S. Main St. collects, preserves and celebrates the state’s skiing and snowboarding history.
