A Johnson man has been given a six-month sentence for hitting his wife and smashing up her car.

Kory Rooney, 31, pleaded no contest in Lamoille Superior Court Nov. 30 to domestic assault and guilty to unlawful mischief of $250 or less.

Rooney was convicted of throwing his wife, Jodi Rooney, out of her car on July 7, smashing the windshield, and then hitting her multiple times.

In a plea bargain, the key charge against Rooney was reduced from first-degree aggravated domestic assault. A charge of violating conditions of release was dismissed.
