A Stowe man charged in January with sexually assaulting two middle-school students now faces new charges.

John Summer, 37, pleaded not guilty Monday in Lamoille Superior Court to five charges of sexual and simple assault.

Police allege Summer repeatedly had sex with a girl under age 18, and punched her in the face during an argument.

Summer faces a felony count of aggravated, repeated sexual assault, which can carry a prison sentence of 10 years to life and a fine of up to $50,000. He also faces two felony counts of sexual assault on a victim under 18, with a three-year to life sentence and a fine of up to $25,000 for each. He also faces two misdemeanor assault charges.
