Travis Hubbell, 26, of Morrisville, facing a felony charge of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl, is now accused of trying to get her to drop the charge by offering her marijuana.

According to an affidavit filed with Lamoille Superior Court, Hubbell allegedly asked a friend to offer the girl 8 ounces of marijuana this fall.

In May 2011, Hubbell was charged with sexual assault, a felony; the case is scheduled for a jury trial this month. Under conditions of that arrest, Hubbell is not allowed to contact the girl, even through a third party.

However, authorities allege he did contact the girl, and on Sept. 20 he pleaded not guilty to obstructing justice, a felony, and misdemeanor counts of violating an abuse-prevention order and violating conditions of release.
