No one was injured in a three-car pileup Jan. 30 at 1:50 p.m. on Route 100 in Waterbury, just over the Stowe town line.

State police said Shawn M. LaPlant, 30, of Waterbury failed to slow down in time when traffic stopped in front of him, and he swerved his 2011 Ford F-250 pickup truck into the opposite lane, trying to avoid a collision.

However, the pickup struck two other vehicles.

LaPlant’s truck had front-end damage and two flat tires.

The truck caused severe damage to the rear of a 2017 Toyota Prius driven by Linda P. Devlin, 83, of Waterbury, and severely damaged the driver’s side and left front of a 2006 Subaru Forester driven by Christopher Smith-Mark, 21, of Needham, Mass., police said.

State troopers were assisted at the scene by Waterbury Rescue and employees of Walker Construction.
