To the Editor:

You can’t help but notice the “Rough Road Ahead” sign when entering the town of Stowe. What you may not realize is that the underneath issues lie deeper than the gravel, dirt and mud.

If you were not lucky enough to be born here in Stowe, you are definitely lucky to be living here and, if you’re old enough, being able to vote in our upcoming election. Whatever brought you at this juncture to be a part of this incredible community of Stowe, I ask that you hold on to that memory as you choose the next candidate to represent our town at the Statehouse.

Our haven of Stowe has grown considerably since I moved to town over 27 years ago. Restaurants have come and gone, the high school is graduating many more students and Stowe has become a four-season resort town. With that said, the one constant remains: Stowe has a dedicated community of people who are diligently keeping the way of life simple yet subtle in the effort to keep up with the changing times.

Over the years, we have had dedicated select board members who tirelessly gave their time and efforts in making this town a draw for many newcomers.

Currently, Stowe has a fantastic state representative, Heidi Scheuermann, who is the voice for our town at the state level, keeping the sanctity of our community intact and a constant draw for many to vacation here and even choose this place of refuge as their own.

It has not been easy for our town to stay intact as a small community, but Heidi has been our voice at the Statehouse to ensure that those who have lived here for many, many years continue to make it their home, and those newer Stoweites appreciate our small, close-knit community as much as we do. The voice of the small business owners and local homeowners are heard and their concerns are taken to the state house.

If you are new to Stowe, please look at the history of our community. For over 12 years, the residents of Stowe and small business owners have been represented at the state level remarkably well.

If you don’t know Heidi, you don’t know our community of Stowe.

My voice, my choice!
