Cross-country team

The Stowe High School cross-country team celebrates after stacking six cords of wood.

To the Editor:

On Aug. 29, the Stowe High School cross-country team members found their way to our home for the fifth year in a row after a 5-mile run to stack this winter’s 6 cords of wood.

As in previous years, there was guidance from the seniors and coach; with their direction, the team kicked into high gear, including the next generation of runners, and within an hour and 23 minutes, they accomplished what it would have taken us a significantly longer period of time to do.

Once again, we want to thank the team members for their spirit and hope that they show for the future. We also want to thank Coach Becky McGovern and her husband, Joe, for their guidance and stacking wood alongside the team, and, of course, the parents of these great young adults. The team arrives, gets hydrated and digs in to get the wood stacked without any complaints — only laughter, guiding the younger team members, and more, all that their parents and coaches can be very proud of instilling in each and every one of them.

Best of luck for a great successful season and your dreams coming true.
