High school playoffs start today for Stowe High teams.
• The boys soccer team has won seven straight Division 3 championships, but moved up to Division 2 this season. Ranked No. 1 and undefeated with a record of 13-0-1, the Raiders host No. 16 Stratton Mountain today, Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 3:30 p.m. If Stowe wins, it hosts either No. 9 Woodstock or No. 8 U-32 in the quarterfinals Friday at 3 p.m. U-32 and Stowe played to a scoreless tie late in the regular season. U-32 finished the regular season 8-4-2, but an absolutely loaded D-2 field that features six teams with 10 or more wins pushed them all the way down to No. 8, setting up the possible rematch with Stowe.
• The girls soccer team opens the postseason at home, hosting No. 11 Mill River on Wednesday at 3 p.m. Ranked sixth in Division 3, Stowe finished the regular season 8-6. An opening-round win sends Stowe to the quarterfinals to play at No. 3 Leland and Gray or to host No. 14 Green Mountain on Saturday at 1 p.m.
• The second-ranked Stowe field hockey team earned a first-round bye and hosts No. 7 Springfield in the quarterfinals Saturday, Oct. 26. Stowe went 11-3 in the regular season. A quarterfinal win puts Stowe in the semifinals, hosting either No. 3 Lyndon or No. 6 North Country next week.
• Stowe’s cross-country runners compete in the Division 3 state championships this Saturday, Oct. 2,6 at Thetford. Racing starts at 9:30 a.m.
• Four Stowe athletes playing for the Fairfax-Lamoille cooperative football team will kick off their postseason on Saturday, when the No. 2 Bullets host No. 7 Mill River at 1 p.m.
