The champions have been crowned in the annual Stowe Tennis Club Doubles Championships, held Sept. 6-8.

All finals were on Sunday in front of a large crowd of spectators. The annual club awards party followed.

In the Women's A Finals, the top-seeded team of Heidi Attlfellner/Helaine Kliger won 6-1, 6-3 over Alison Estey/Heidi Vietze. Attlfellner and Kliger are each top-ranked international tournament players and used that experience and steady play to win in straight sets.

The Mixed Doubles Finals winners were Heidi Vietze/Van Carr, winning 6-1, 6-3 over Alison Estey/Dave Caterino. Vietze/Carr also won last year. The combination of Vietze's consistent groundstrokes and Carr's attacking net play proved too much for the newly paired team of Estey/Caterino.

The Men's A Finals winners were Mike Carey/James Knittle, 6-4, 6-3 over Matt Calcagni/Rick Barnett. Knittle's strong backhand and Carey's ability to strike forehands down the line led to their victory. All four players have been regular participants in the club’s weekly Heavy Hitters round robin, so knew each other styles well. This was the first time in an A club finals for Knittle, who is one of the most improved and now top players in the club.

Special congratulations to Alison Estey, who played in all three possible club championship matches — including the Women’s A Singles club championships held two weeks ago.
