‘Anything for Speed: Automobile Racing in Vermont,’ opens Saturday, April 28, at the Vermont History Center, 60 Washington St., Barre. Free admission is offered from 9 a.m. to noon. The center is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the second Saturday of each month. The exhibit covers more than a century of racing in Vermont, through objects, photographs and recollections. The exhibit coincides with the Downtown Barre Car Show, sponsored by Thunder Road International Speedbowl. The exhibit highlights drivers, owners, mechanics, promoters and officials, with information about tracks all over the state, the mountains that have hosted hill climbs, the downtowns that hosted auto rallies, and the back roads where long-distance races were run. People can also compete against one another in a racing simulator.
