New and old

Susan Lassiter, outgoing president of the Bryan Memorial Gallery board in Jeffersonville, opens a parting gift — a painting by Fiona Cooper Fenwick. The new board president, Julie Brown, is at left.

Susan Lassiter of Underhill has stepped down after eight years as president of the Bryan Memorial Gallery board in Jeffersonville.

She has been on the board since 2008, and will remain a member.

The new board president is Julie Brown of Jeffersonville, who was elected to the board last year and has been co-chair of the gallery’s online auction committee.

Lassiter got involved at the Helen Day Art Center in Stowe when she was branch manager of Union Bank there. At the time, Mickey Myers was executive director.

Shortly after Lassiter moved to the Jeffersonville branch of the bank, Myers became director of Bryan Memorial Gallery.

Myers said Lassiter’s enthusiasm for the gallery and her involvement with the community through Cambridge Rotary and the Cambridge Arts Council brought a vitality to the gallery that remains tangible to this day.
