Boston-based artist Alex Cook paints a mural on the side of Laughing Moon Chocolates on South Main Street in Stowe. “The theme is wonder, a dream feeling,” said Cook, who has been painting murals for 22 years, and whose work can be seen in 18 states and in Guatemala, Kenya and Nigeria. “There’s a ladder here that, to me, has an upward, progressive feeling. It doesn’t have a narrative theme, but like a dream landscape.” In 2017, Cook was commissioned by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Vermont to create a mural with the help of community members with the words “You are loved” on Cherry Street in Burlington. He started painting in Stowe on Tuesday and expects to complete the mural this week. See more of Cook’s work at stonebalancer.com.
