Rusty Park Rotary concerts in the park

Waterbury Rotary’s “Concert In The Park” series begins next Thursday, June 7. Shows are from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Rusty Parker Memorial Park on South Main Street in Waterbury, coinciding with the farmers market, which runs from 3 to 7 p.m. Bring your friends, family and neighbors each Thursday with a chair or blanket and a picnic dinner and enjoy music throughout the summer. Free Ben & Jerry’s ice cream will be served by Rotary members.

Here’s the schedule:

June 7: Funk Shui (funk).

June 14: Michelle Fay band (original Americana).

June 21: Blues for Breakfast (blues).

June 28: Starline Rhythm Boys (Texas honkytonk).

Saturday, June 30: Not Quite Independence Day Festival, 2 to 10 p.m. Parade, 4 p.m. Joe Moore Band (American rhythm and blues, funk and jazz), 5:30 p.m. The Hitmen (high-energy dance band), 7:30 p.m. Fireworks display at dusk.

July 5: A House on Fire (dance, reggae, rock, country, soul).

July 12: Jenni Johnson and the Junketeers (high-energy jazz).

July 19: The Phineas Gage Project (“phabulous pholk punk”).

July 26: Full Share Band (eclectic rock).

Aug. 2: Northern Flyers (bluegrass).

Aug. 9: Cop Outs (Celtic folk punk rock).

Aug. 16: Robin Gottfried Band (rock, soul, funk).

The 2018 concerts are free to the public thanks to the Waterbury Rotary Club and generous local sponsors.
