Rockin’ Ron the Friendly Pirate

Today, Sept. 19, is Talk Like a Pirate Day, and likeable local corsair Rockin’ Ron the Friendly Pirate has a new album to help inspire landlocked Lamoille lads and lasses. “Talk Like a Pirate” features pirate music and sea songs with boatloads of word play and nautical references for all ages. Singer and musician Ron Carter has released three other albums, including “The Flying Pirate Circus,” which was considered for a 2017 children’s album Grammy, as well as an illustrated children’s book. “My approach is ‘Sesame Street’ meets ‘Monty Python’,” Carter said. Carter is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music in Boston. His main port of call is Smugglers’ Notch Resort, and since 2002 he’s performed all over the mountains — and maybe a sea or two. Original compositions and parodies from the new album include “Pirate Alphabet,” “Sink The Cheerio,” and “Wigglely, Gigglely, Squiggely Squid.” Learn more at rockinronthefriendlypirate.com.
