The powerful voice and genre-spanning talent of singer/songwriter Ruthie Foster will be on display when the Ruthie Foster Quintet steps onto the stage at the Trapp Family Lodge Concert Meadow at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. for pre-concert picnics. This is the final concert of Stowe Performing Arts’ 43rd Music in the Meadow series.

Foster has carved a unique path to the stage, beginning with her service in the U.S. Navy, where she honed her singing chops in the Navy Band Southeast’s popular music group, Pride. From there, she launched an genuine and innovative career grounded in the traditions of American music — folk, blues, gospel, rock, and soul. Foster has been nominated for three Grammy awards and is a Texas Music Hall of Fame inductee. As a solo artist, she has performed with Bonnie Raitt, the Allman Brothers, and Susan Tedeschi of the Tedeschi Trucks Band.

Tickets for adults are $30 in advance (before 4 p.m. on Aug. 3), or $35 at the gate; $10 for ages 6 to 17, or free for children under 5. More information: stoweperformingarts.com.
