“Die Walküre” epic opera

Wagner’s epic opera “Die Walküre” will be shown Wednesday, April 10 at 1 p.m. at Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center, made possible by the Met Opera’s Live in HD program. Soprano Christine Goerke plays Brünnhilde, the willful title warrior maiden, who loses her immortality in opera’s most famous act of filial defiance. Tenor Stuart Skelton and soprano Eva-Maria Westbroek are the twins Siegmund and Sieglinde, and bass-baritone Greer Grimsley sings the god Wotan. Philippe Jordan conducts. Ahead of the showing, an ArtSmart talk will be given by performer and connoisseur Erik Kronke. The talk is at noon, and participants are encouraged to bring a bag lunch. Tickets for the opera showing are $10 to $17, and the talk is included for ticket holders. More info: sprucepeakarts.org.
