Stowe Theatre Guild launches its 2019 season with “Godspell,” opening Wednesday, June 12 at the Town Hall Theater in Stowe. The show runs for three weeks, Wednesday through Saturday, June 12-29, with performances at 7:30 p.m.

This is the Guild’s first time performing Stephen Schwartz’s musical mainstay; it’s directed by Alison Norcross, who played Marge in “The Bridges of Madison County” last year in Stowe.

The Bridges of Madison County: Binoculars

Busybodies Alison Norcross and Richard Pritsky spy on the affair next door in "The Bridges of Madison County" at Stowe Theatre Guild.

“With ‘Godspell,’ the script tells you to get creative — demands it,” Norcross said.

Norcross invites audiences to have fun and see the creativity and cast chemistry at play in the musical of parables performed through song, dance, and tomfoolery by Jesus Christ (George Sullivan) and his comedic, energetic team of followers: Brian Watson as John the Baptist/Judas, Xander Landen as Jeffrey, Jacob Normandy as Lamar, William Bigglestone as Herb, Tara Blueter as Robin, Shannon Brodie as Joanne, Kayla Tornello as Peggy, Anna Mazer as Sonia, and Kira Johnson as Gilmer.
