The Waterbury Historical Society has two upcoming events:

• On Wednesday, July 17, at 7 p.m., the Yankee Brass Band performs at Thatcher Brook Primary School, 47 Stowe St. The band last performed in Waterbury in 2016.

For 33 years, the 25-member Yankee Brass Band has championed the cause of “historical informed performance,” using rare and authentic period instruments and outfitted in uniforms suitable to the mid to late 1800s. The public is welcome, free.

• The Waterbury Historical Society’s summer meeting and picnic is Wednesday, July 31, at 6 p.m. at Hope Davey Park in Waterbury Center. The picnic is potluck, so bring a dish or salad to share. Drinks and dessert will be provided. You may want to bring chairs.

At 7 p.m., the Lamoille River Swingers will explain and demonstrate the history of square dancing, then invite people to join in. Anyone interested is welcome.
