Barbara Kellogg Griffith Beam, 96, of Waterbury Center died peacefully Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, at The Manor in Morrisville.

She was born Feb. 5, 1922, in Elizabeth, N.J., daughter of Major Dison Griffith and Grace Kellogg Griffith.

She married Herbert Patterson Beam on Aug. 11, 1945, in Brattleboro. After he graduated from the University of Vermont College of Medicine in 1958, they moved to Morrisville, where he was one of six physicians serving Lamoille County.

Barbara taught English at Lamoille Union High School for several years after graduating from Johnson State College in 1968. She retired with her husband to Waterbury Center in 1987. He died in 1993.

Survivors include her children, Charlotte Bill and husband Hal of Enosburg, Rebecca Williams and husband Norman of Stowe, and Herbert Beam and wife Sallie of Portland, Ore.; her grandchildren, Laura, Emily, Norman and Tristan; her great-grandchildren, Cerridwyn, Magdalene, Eli, Willa, Mabel, Norman and Patrick; and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband and parents died earlier, as did her siblings, Thomas Griffith, Grace “Betty” Edmondson and Charles Griffith.

No public services are planned at this time. Faith Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
