Every year the Waterbury-Duxbury-Moretown Rotary club conducts a raffle to support the services we provide to our communities. These services include scholarships, student exchange programs, holiday events, donations to our schools, concerts in the park, and support of other local service organizations.
This year’s raffle is for a fat bike or $1,000 cash. Second prize is $300 and third prize is $100. Tickets are $10 each or six tickets for $50. The drawing will be on Nov. 19, just in time for the winner to try out the bike in the snow.
The bike and tickets will be available at the concert in the park on this Thursday, Aug. 15, and can also be bought from any local Rotarian.
We’d like to thank Waterbury Sports for providing the bike that is being raffled. The raffle is for a Surly fat bike with retail value of $1,500. The winner will get a bike that is the right frame size for the rider.
• As noted in the last Rotary article, the first round of “liking” a logo design for our reusable bags has started. Please go to fb.com/waterburyvtrotary to see the entries. If you do not use Facebook, please go to our website. In the next, and final, round, the votes will be for either of the two finalists. Have a look — they are very creative.
Our club meets at the senior center on Stowe Street Tuesday mornings at 7:30, except the second Tuesday of the month and the Tuesday after the third Monday of the month. That third Monday we have a night meeting at 6 at the Blackback Pub. Meetings start promptly and last one hour. You are welcome to join in to find out what all the fun is about giving back to our communities.
