Sept. 19 at 1:58 p.m., in Stowe, Alexandru Rotaru, 34, of Shelburne tried to drive his tractor-trailer truck through Smugglers Notch on Route 108. The predictable happened: The truck got stuck on a rock ledge in the narrow, winding Notch, where large trucks and buses are banned because they don’t fit. The trailer was damaged, and at least one lane of the road was closed for about three hours to extricate the truck. Rotaru’s company — ATL Transportation — received a ticket for driving a commercial vehicle in a prohibited zone.
Sept. 23 at 9 a.m. in Waterbury, after a receiving a complaint, police stopped Blaine J. Roy, 22, of Danville on Waterbury’s Main Street. He’s charged with violating an abuse prevention order and violating his conditions of release from an earlier case. He was arraigned later in the day in Washington County Superior Court.
Sept. 23 at 10:39 a.m., after a traffic stop on Lower Pleasant Valley Road in Cambridge, police cited Anna C. Houle, 41, of Cambridge for allegedly driving after criminal license suspension.
Sept. 24 at 5:09 p.m., in Elmore, Travis White, 35, was charged with domestic assault, burglary and violation of an abuse prevention order. White, for whom no address was listed, was arrested after police were called to Leahy Road in Elmore for a report that a man was trying to break into a house. Police said they found White in a culvert under Leahy Road. He was held for lack of $5,000 bail, awaiting arraignment Sept. 25 in Lamoille County Superior Court.
