Bail has been set at $50,000 for a Middlesex man accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl last summer.
Caleb Heath, 30, is charged with aggravated sexual assault on a child and with lewd and lascivious conduct with a child. Police allege the crimes occurred in Worcester.
Vermont State Police began investigating in February, and took Heath into custody on April 24. He was arraigned the next day in Washington County Superior Court, after spending the night in the Northeast Correctional Complex in St. Johnsbury for lack of $15,000 bail. At the arraignment, the judge boosted the bail to $50,000, and Heath remained in custody because he couldn’t post bail.
No trial date has been set yet.
