To the Editor:
I write in support of Andrew Perchlik for Washington County senator. He brings both professional experience with Vermont state government and a demonstrated commitment to serving our community.
In my experience, we too often undervalue the importance of having elected officials in the Statehouse who understand how state and local government works. Andrew has worked for a state agency, the Public Service Department, managing the Clean Energy Development Fund, and has also advocated before Vermont agencies and the General Assembly for renewable energy policy at the organization he founded, Renewable Energy Vermont.
His experience advancing renewable energy policies that benefit Vermont’s communities will allow him to effectively advocate for our county’s citizens in all of the many complex areas of policy confronting our current elected leaders.
In addition, and as importantly, Andrew has demonstrated his commitment to community through his contributions to Marshfield. including as a longtime member of the volunteer fire department and serving on the town’s select board.
Through watching Andrew’s work over the years, I have concluded that he is that rare person who has both feet on the ground and is willing and able to imagine a new and better future.
Andrew will work with Vermonters to find common-sense solutions that protect Vermont values and allow us to adapt to a rapidly changing world. Please join me in voting for Andrew Perchlik on Aug. 14.
